Cala Violina

Cala Violina beach is located between Follonica and Punta Ala, within a nature reserve. To reach it, you have to walk about 1.5 km through the pine forest, and the Mediterranean scrub reaches right down to the beach. The beach is composed of tiny grains of quartz, the water is crystal clear, and its name comes from the sound the sand makes when you walk, similar to the sound of a violin. The beach is not equipped with facilities and is not very large, so it can get very crowded in the summer. Continuing along the path that leads to Cala Violina, you can see three other very picturesque coves: Cala Civette, Cala del Barbiere, and Casetta Civinini in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia. A short trail leads to the beautiful, very large beach with fine, white sand.

Cala Martina

It's not an easy beach to reach; you can only get there on foot or by bike. There are no bars or beach clubs. Along the path, there's a monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi, commemorating his escape from the papal guards.
